Adele, the Grammy-winning singer, has been making headlines recently for her personal and professional life. The 35-year-old star, who is currently performing her Las Vegas residency at Caesars Palace, has sparked rumors that she secretly married her boyfriend Rich Paul, a sports agent. She also revealed that she suffered a sciatica flare-up that caused her to collapse backstage before one of her shows.
The marriage speculation started when Adele referred to Paul as her “husband” during her concert on Saturday, October 9. She said, “I want to thank my beautiful husband for coming to see me tonight.” She also called him her “wife” in a video posted on her Instagram stories. However, neither Adele nor Paul has confirmed or denied the rumors.
Paul appeared on CBS Mornings on Monday, October 9, to promote his memoir, Lucky Me: A Memoir of Changing the Odds. When co-anchor Gayle King asked him about his relationship with Adele, he played coy and said, “She’s great. She’s great.” He also added, “I’m not married. I’m not married yet.” King pressed him further and asked if he was engaged, to which he replied, “No comment.”
Adele and Paul have been dating since July 2021, when they were spotted together at an NBA Finals game. They have since been seen at various events and outings, including the Met Gala in September. Adele was previously married to Simon Konecki, a charity entrepreneur, from 2017 to 2019. They share a son, Angelo, who was born in 2012.
On Sunday, October 10, Adele shocked the crowd at her Las Vegas show when she shared that she had a health scare before taking the stage. She said that she had a sciatica attack that made her fall down and cry. Sciatica is a condition that causes pain along the sciatic nerve, which runs from the lower back to the legs.
“I don’t know if any of you have ever had sciatica before,” she said. “But I had it for the first time last night and I thought I was going to die.” She continued, “I was in so much pain I couldn’t walk. I had to crawl to my dressing room.” She said that she managed to perform with the help of painkillers and ice packs.
She also joked that she felt like an “old lady” and that she needed a “hip replacement”. She thanked her fans for their support and said, “I feel so lucky to be here with you tonight.”
Adele’s Las Vegas residency, titled Adele Live 2023, began on January 21 and will run until April 16. It features songs from her four albums, including her latest one, Easy On Me, which was released in October 2023. The album has received critical acclaim and commercial success, breaking several records and topping charts worldwide.
